Katamari Damashii creator Keita Takahashi has mentioned that he was not inspired by anything specific in the creation of his new series. But evidence suggests he may be leaving something out! The undoukai (literally 'exercise competition) is a series of sporting events that children participate in from preschool through highschool. One of the events is called tamakorogashi, and involves rolling a giant ball to a goal, as you see to the left. Full image here, with another here.
