Two bits of shooter news. Raiden III is making its way to the PS2. Taito will produce the home version. Raiden III will come out september 22nd, but optimists can already pre-order the game on Play-Asia.
I got that news from shmup.com, which is jumping in the pool of indie shooters through some major members of it's community and their game Drill. They started the development more than a year ago on PC yet plan to release their Cave-inspired manic shooter on Dreamcast only, with a demo to be avaiable by september. There's already a little teaser footage of the first stage avaiable here.
<Brandon's note: Thanks to Recap for pointing out that Taito did not do the home port of Gigawing Generations, it was in fact Takumi themselves. We reported this correctly back when the game came out, but incorrectly just now, so it has been fixed. Aside from that, GG PS2 wasn't especially worse than the arcade original, ie poor by design, not because of the port.>
