The latest issue of Nintendo Dream has an exclusive article on the remake of Final Fantasy III. The game is indeed in full 3D and quite possibly the most impressive DS game from a technical standpoint. Most of the action (overworld, dungeon crawling, battles) will be seen on the upper screen and there is no information yet on what the lower tactile screen will be used for. There is a nice montage passed around on the net to compare the first screenshots with the original FFIII. In the same article, it is possible to see the first screens of Final Fantasy V Advance and Final Fantasy VI Advance, which are confirmed as GBA releases. No precise retail date has been announced for either game yet. Meanwhile, more images of Seiken Densetsu DS: Children of Mana have surfaced on the net through magazine scans. Still scheduled to be released this winter, the game is in 2D, with a graphic style in-between Super Famicom's Seiken Densetsu 3 and PlayStation's Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana. The soundtrack, under the supervision of Itoken (SaGa series), will be taken care of by people who worked on the Ridge Racer series and Sega's old classic Fantasy Zone, so it should be quite something. Finally, Squenix reveals in the latest Famitsu that the surprising Mario Basketball 3on3 was originally an in-house development - they later contacted Nintendo and proposed to apply the Mario license on the game.
