UK-born and Japanese-mag-inspired Mean Machines, (along with its parent Computer and Video Games) was one of the most influential gaming magazines in the European continent. It was the first multi-format console-only magazine in those territories, and qas quickly copied in concept and style by French and Spanish editors. It was thanks to Mean Machines that many of us learned that Japanese had games other than what we saw in the west, that a video-game package could have awesome artwork and design, that an RGB display with NTSC standards was the key to getting the best visuals from your system... Sadly, and controversially, its existence was short due to the effects of the console boom in Europe. Today you can find part of its legacy on The Mean Machines Archive, an unofficial website wisely elaborated by a fan who even got to interview most of its historical staffers.
