Those very genki people over at Gpara have interviewed Armored Core producer Toshifumi Nabeshima in their latest podcast (though it's obviously all in Japanese). It's an interesting interview and there's another one planned next week too, along with promises of Nabeshima spilling the beans on what happened during his first interview at From Software.
Interestingly, Nabeshima had a real hard time getting a planner job when he started (the Japanese equivalent of designer / producer). He's a determined chap however and has now been with From Software for over a decade and is pretty much known as "Mr. Armored Core" amongst the Japanese fanbase. One of the things Nabeshima always explains in his interviews, including the ones I've conducted with him, is that he's not really into mecha. In that, he's more interested in using mecha to do something new in gameplay terms. This is the same viewpoint that people such as Yoshiyuki Tomino take on their creations, especially considering that Tomino almost exclusively creates mecha anime.
Anyway, it's a good interview and Nabeshima is as refreshingly humble as always.
Brandon's note: The photo up there has nabeshima on the left, and a very excited ollie barder on the right. So excited, in fact, that he decided to coordinate shirts with the man.
