Maese Spt on the Madman's Cafe forums has posted his quick impressions of Sengoku Basara X from the location test. They're not very specific, but in terms of hard data, the beta only had 4 playable characters: Yukimura, Masamune, Keiji, and Kenshin. He mentioned that the backgrounds are a bit static, and while colorful, don't have a lot of life. The character animation seemed to be decent though. And here's an interesting quote from Maese: "Did I mention the fangirls? I knew Basara had a somewhat strong following among yaoi fandom, but I didn’t expect 90% of the people at the loketest to be girls. No wonder they kept choosing Masamune and Yukimura on an endless loop. There was even that chick who fanatically jumped, applauded and screamed “Kakkoii! Suteki!” whenever Masamune apopeared on the screen. And it was every 5 seconds."
The reason I find this curious is that if that were purposeful on Capcom's part, it would indicate that almost every new 2D arcade fighting game of late has pandered to an otaku audience. Arcana Heart to the moe crowd, Hokuto no Ken is a license, Melty Blood to the doujin/otaku types, and now Sengoku Basara X to the yaoi fangirls. Something for everyone?
