Modern Mate and Gen-X are both consoles that allow play of both NES and Genesis games, though in the case of Modern Mate, that's Famicom and Mega Drive. The Modern Mate (pictured) has a joystick built in, and you can find info about here, along with several other awesome pirate hardware pieces, many of which come with light guns. Modern Mate is Pal-formatted, according to the site, but is shown there with a Famicom game in the slot... and apparently the stick is pretty good. When you stick in a second controller, the first player (with the stick) has the ability to reset, which is rather unfair! My favorite part is how they've added the 8-bit Famicom to the 16-bit Mega Drive and written '24 bit' on the front. Reminds me of this old post.
The Gen-X, on the other hand, you can actually buy for $40 (or $37 - choose your retailer wisely). It comes with two Genesis 6-button-like controllers, and seems rather nifty. It's also purportedly compatible with any legit Genesis controller. Thanks to SignOfZeta and NeoGutsman for the links.
