News: Metal Gear 2 Oilix a reality

mg2oilix.jpg Jeremy Parish's personal site Game Spite points out that a company in Silicon Valley called LS9 has genetically modified some strains of E. coli so that they will produce a petroleum-like substance that they think will be interchangeable with oil. They also think it will be carbon-negative, meaning it will produce less carbon than it extracts from the atmosphere when it's made. What does this have to do with games? It was predicted in Metal Gear 2 as Oilix, way back in 1990. It was never mentioned again, but still. To quote mister Parish: "Man, if you thought Kojima fanboys were insufferable in singing praises to his visionary genius before..." Image credit goes to him as well.
