vannapinball.png Coinoptoday is a fun site if you browse it enough. Lots of weird things happen in the incredibly open American arcade industry, which makes a press release about nearly anything. Here are some recent highlights.

Illinois congressman visits Stern Pinball - "Along the way, Ray showed the Emanuel children how various pinball playfield mechanisms work by giving them a pinball to strike against bumpers and drop targets. The children were ecstatic."

Flamin Finger issues - apparently the Flamin Finger machines can catch fire of all things. They made a special fuse adapter harness that fixes the problem, but I'll be damned if that isn't irony. Actually it's not irony, it's appropriate. So I guess I'll be damned!

Benchmark Games' employee appreciation pig roast - fun times over at Benchmark, where (from looking at the pictures) all employees from age 55 to 80 were in attendance for the first annual pig roast. Good times.

Betson West relocates - to Hayward California. That's pretty close to me! Branch manager of Betson West, Mark Meenan said, “We appreciate all the manufacturers and customers who joined us to celebrate Betson’s new facility.” Rick Kirby, President of Betson Enterprises also attended the grand opening. “I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedule to attend our open house,” Rick stated. That's a hard-hitting press release! Check the link for pictures of men standing in rooms.

Sexi Stars release - porn games for touch screen arcades. That's that, then.

Sega motion simulator - this one's called Mini Rider 2, developed by Simuline. MINI RIDER 2 is a compact two player simulator which is small enough to fit into a regular double door, has motion superior to any other conventional motion system. With this inverted motion system and the 4D effect and a 40 inch wide flat monitor producing increased dynamic and exciting motion. Hmm, that last bit wasn't a sentence at all.

Vanna White plays Wheel of Fortune Pinball - and there's a press release about it! Green Coin resident pinball wizard Alan Dunasky, was on hand to help display the game and explain the extended game play features to the Whites. Vanna will keep that knowledge til the grave.
