So, if you're like me, and are the only person in the world who has followed all the trials and tribulations of Oldergames over the years, you will want to sit down for this. Luckily you're reading this on a computer, most likely, and there's a good chance you're already seated. But you might want to get a beer from the fridge, or something. Anyway, Oldergames, which sold all its assets to Superfighter Team recently is no more, but its founder and basically only full-time employee RW Bivins is back - and making music.
It is difficult to contextualize how bizarre/curious this is. This is a man who over the years bought unreleased games for ancient systems, and then sold them in newly designed packages. There is no way he made much money on it, as illustrated here. And now, here he is, doing a rap ballad. And a hard rock piano rhapsody. Here's a picture from his 2008 "feel the hate" tour. I feel at a loss to give you the proper context for this, but I've been to the man's house and met his wife, so I know of what I am speaking. Some folks in the digitalpress or Assembler communities may as well. He's an odd bird, to be sure. But he never stops surprising me. I didn't see this coming. His myspace page actually has almost 130,000 views, which I think is more than he ever got with Oldergames - his most popular game in that line sold 400 copies. So congrats, RW, and keep on just being a crazy man all day long. I can only hope you'll write a song about the Soccer Kid port for the Sega CD.
