Legendary console/PC developer Falcom (of Ys fame) has recently released what appears to be a huge demo of Zwei!!, their new and incredibly popular PC action/RPG. Be warned, Japanese Windows 9x is a necessity for this piece of software, though XP users may have better luck.
As an additional note, Falcom has announced the development of Vantage Master Japan, the latest installment of their seminal SRPG. To commemorate this, they have released a new screensaver.

For those who don't know, Abogado Powers (www.abopa.net) is a small yet prolific Japanese software company with a wide genre base. They've not been making games for that long, but each game so far has been unique in style, which impresses me at least. They're probably best known for their Dreamcast RPG D+vine [LUV]. They've released a demo of their excellent shooter Tobi D+vine. We've mirrored it here for convenience. If you'd like to see more, there's also a movie, though it's a bit large (26.4 megs).

Sales of the Xbox in both Europe and Japan have not achieved the brisk clip which Microsoft expected. Soon after a European Xbox price cut (from 470 euros to 299 Euros), MS Chief Financial Officer John Connors announced that the company has cut sales estimates from 4.5 to 6 million shipped units by the end of June to of 3.5 to 4 million. Also among Microsoft's revised goals is 9 to 11 million shipped units by the middle of 2003.

What's up with Rage of the Dragons? Is it bad? Is it good?
In contrast to the sentiments expressed in the Madman's Cafe thread linked to below, a fairly positive mini-review was posted on Neo-Geo.com's forums here. Who knows what will happen when the game finally enjoys wide distribution. Such are the joys of personal taste...

Can you say double take?
It must have taken a long while for it to hit me. In the number 20 slot of Japanese console game sales from March 11 - 17, there's a little game from Sun Amusement which moved 6,126 units that week. The game? The King of Fighters 2001, for NeoGeo.
Who would've thought one would see another NeoGeo console game on a top sales chart?

It's quite a race in the American consoles sales market...for second place.
While the PlayStation 2 has a secure lead with an installed base of more than eight million units, Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's GameCube are boasting sales figures of nearly 1.8 and 1.5 million, respectively.
It will be interesting to see what the coming months of software releases do for these consoles' sales...
