With a little bit of stealth added to the platforming mix, Sly Cooper doesn't take the genre anywhere it hasn't been before, but it's another diversion until the next great platformer comes along...

I'm not sure how new these are, but 4gamer.net has two Falcom Videos I hadn't seen yet...a 45 meg vid for the classic RPG Zwei, and a huge 87 meg video for the excellent strategy/RPG VM Japan. It's nice to see Falcom doing so well again...

That Ikaruga video was just a little slice of Chapter 3; this, however, is a nice (no deaths, no bombs) little (31:40 - 308 MB) video showing the way to beat Strikers 1999. (Twice.)
Check it out. Use of a download manager such as GetRight is encouraged. Thanks to Rakashazi for his unearthing of this file from Japanese servers...

I paid ten bucks, I was thinking, to read a review from people that didn’t “get” the joke. Sure, they gave it a high enough score. This isn’t about the score, though. This is about the story, or, more specifically, the wrongness of the bashing thereof. So I ask a question:
Am I the only person who got it?
Am I the only person who found the game to be bold and risky? Am I the only person who thought, “If Haruki Murakami wrote a spy-thriller, this is what it would be like?”
Kojima has made the first postmodern videogame.

News: GP32 Front Light Update

Thanks to Sihyang Lee's translation, we now know more about the GP32 front light, which I called a 'homebrew' previously. The fellow who took the picture claims to have snuck into the Game Park offices while everyone was working, poking around for something to photograph with his digital camera. He found what he believes to be an official prototype of a front lighting solution for the GP32...
Quoting Miss Lee: "in the Blue print describing pictures, he says, 'Looking at it, it must have been a proto type, It wasn't finished yet. Althought the brightness in the picture looks dim, the quality was certainly was as good as GBA's backlight quality. However, not finished in exterior structure yet, it was a front light in development.'"
Furthermore: "then he just comments again 'Game Park is doing something. The pictures don't tell all, but the front light was perfect piece that was almost good as back light. we look forward to it.'"
Erin Lee from Game Park has confirmed that this is a possibility, but was unaware of any such prototype's existence. It may have been a pet project of Hyung Gun himself? I'll report the official word once it's released to me.
The thread for the GP32 at GPzigi seems to be gone, so please check the pictures below. Thanks again to Sihyang Lee; we hope to work with her again in the near future.

SNS of the GPzigi forum just posted some images of his custom GP32 labels. The one on the back of the system looks especially nice. I would love to get my hands on that limited black GP32...
His second post shows his own SMC label... not as professional, but pretty nice regardless.

News: GP32 Lighting Attempt

A poster to GPzigi has shared some interesting images of a homebrew lighting solution for GP32. It seems he's taken some sort of halogen bulb (two of them, actually) and made it shine horizontally across an attached acrylic screen. Looks ok, pretty good for a home attempt. It draws power from the GP32's USB expansion port... Not sure how much it drains the battery, but it's likely pretty substantial. Check pics here, or go to the main thread to view the whole lot. If you read Korean and can translate this, email me.

GP32 developer T3 Entertainment has recently released some new shots of Rafael, their upcoming platform/puzzler. Check here for the shots. So far it looks...ok. I'll reserve judgement until I play it, but it seems to have a rather amaturish style at this point.
